What is fast? Well...it depends doesn't it...on the vehicle in question, and where you travel. A lot of today's electric kick scooters do 25 mph (40 kph). In a car, that feels relatively slow, on a bike downhill f.e. it feels significantly faster. On a skateboard...I would probably wet myself. But on an electric kick scooter, I have the handlebar, which gives a sense of security, and so I dare.

But ask me to step on a skateboard and go 25 mph downhill, I would tell you to go somewhere really dark. In any case, to fall or hit someone or something, at 25 mph is not recommendable, whether it is on a bike, skateboard, or a powerful electric scooter.

So for the sake of this article's relevance, we think 20 mph (32 kph) and above is fast for electric kick scooters especially as they are used a lot in urban areas where you have to consider other road users such as pedestrians, bikes, and cars.

It seems top speeds on electric scooters are going up, and where is the limit one asks? In reality, unless you are about to set some world record, how fast do you really want to go on one of these devices? It baffles me to see people use e-scooters without any protective gear. Not even a helmet!

These are not toys but proper speed scooters, and speed can be dangerous if not respected. The same people would never ski or snowboard without a proper helmet, because of the risks going down a mountain entails. And remember, the snow can add as a dampener if you tumble whilst skiing, whereas the tarmac won't. And yet, stepping on the kick scooter, full-throttle through downtown, "it won't happen to me"....seems to be the mantra.

Seriously, there are things to consider if you want to get a powerful electric scooter beside the scooter itself.

Protective gear, as you would use if you rode a motorcycle or a mountain bike downhill is a smart investment. Some people ride e-scooters with a bike helmet which is better than nothing. But if you went on a moped or a regular scooter that does 30+mph... would you do the same?

For some of these high-speed scooters, nothing but a full-face helmet is recommended. Brakes, tires, suspension, and overall build quality might be more important than top speed, and also the durability of the lithium battery if you plan on going full tilt all the time. And last but not least, your style of riding and where you ride? Are you considerate, or do you fall into the "hooligan" category? However, if you want to be an off-road "hooligan", then check this article on the best off-road scooters

Fastest Electric Scooters by MPH/KPH

So which are the options out there to be considered if you do have a need for speed? Here's our top list.

Stepping on a 60+ mph (96+ kph) e-scooter, there are a few things to consider. Generally speaking, when going very fast, you want stiffer suspension and be closer to the ground for maximum stability as well as having great brakes and tires.

Going flat out on one of these, you need to keep in mind that tiny steering movements have a very big impact and you need to know how to brake properly using your body position and knees to your advantage. Lean backward slightly, as if you are about to sit down and bend your knees.

Never ride with your feet parallel but instead like you would a snowboard. One foot in front of the other for maximum balance and control.

Consider yourself warned!

The Wolf King GT Pro has "performance scooter" written all over it. The name itself says it all. The various Wolfs out there are all top performers but someone has to be King. Even within the Wolf family. It has everything the popular Wolf Warrior and GT Pro do and then some.

One would be forgiven for thinking that the Wolf King GT Pro is merely an update on the already brilliant Wolf GT Pro as they look so similar. But the upgrades make you feel the difference.

First, there is the higher top speed, 62 mph (100 kph). Dual 2000W/7200W peak power motors and a bigger 72V 35Ah battery, as well as upgraded sinewave controllers, make it accelerate superfast. 30 mph (48 kph) is reached in just under 4 seconds. This is the fastest production scooter for sale at the time of writing.

That much motor power under your thumb might feel scary but the acceleration curve is well "mapped" and keeping it all calm and under control is not a problem.Stability is brilliant and even at high speeds, it feels rock solid. Dual stems will have that effect and the added weight of the fork-mounted motor controllers makes it even more so.

It has a longer stem and wider handlebar than the Wolf Warrior which increases the feel of control.

90 miles (144 km) of range is possible with some conservative riding and going off-road is definitely on the menu for the King.

11-inch tubeless self-repairing tires, dual front hydraulic shocks with dual spring rear suspension will be as fun as it can get on dirt trails and less-than-perfect surfaces. It will fly up hills and once there, can proclaim itself "king of the mountain".

This is only for those who know what they want, want the best, and are prepared for it.

PROS

  • Extreme power & top speed
  • Motorcycle graded dual suspension
  • IPX5 Water resistant

CONS

  • Very heavy

Another 60 mph contender is the NAMI Burn E2 Max which is an improved version of the popular original Burn E based on community feedback and requests. NAMI has set its sights on delivering some of the best electric scooters you can buy and are not afraid to think outside the box in doing so.

Some of the E2 upgrades are 4 piston hydraulic brakes, waterproof motor connectors, and a wider handlebar.

Dual 1500W/8400W peak power motors and 50A sinewave controllers pack a massive punch and acceleration.

It is as fast from zero to 30 mph (48 kph) as the above-reviewed Wolf King GT Pro. Just under 4 seconds. And the top speed is 60 mph (96 kph). A large Li-ion 72V 32Ah battery means 90 miles (145 km) of range riding economically. Riding less conservatively you can still expect a 50-mile (80 km) range.

The brakes are similarly impressive. Fully hydraulic 160mm LOGAN disc brakes with big pads will bring you to a complete stop from 15 mph (24 kph) in 9 feet (3 m).

Adjustable front & rear hydraulic coil-shock suspension is one of, if not the best, on the market. The ride quality is top-notch.

In contrast to the Wolf King, it is a single-stem scooter which means stability is not as good as on a double-stem version. But NAMI has cleverly added an adjustable steering dampener which comes in handy at high speeds. It significantly reduces wobble.

This is an all-terrain scooter and 11-inch air-filled tires are there to accommodate for this.

As with the Wolf King GT Pro, this is not a beginner's scooter and does not fall under the "budget" scooter category. But if you know what you want and you will use it a lot, it will be a great companion.

PROS

  • Extreme power & top speed
  • Brilliant an Unique design
  • IP55 Water resistant

Leaving the top echelon of speeds we move a step down. Not a big one though as 40-50 mph can still be considered performance scooters territory and should be plenty fast even for daredevils.

The GT Pro is very similar to the King. Although its performance is stellar, as mentioned above, there can be only one king. But that is not to say that the GT Pro is not a ruler. Because it truly is a high-performance electric scooter.

The Pro has a top speed of 50 mph (80 kph) and 1200W/5400W peak output dual hub motors with a 60V 35Ah battery good for a 60-mile (96 km) range. The acceleration and torque are massive and it will spin both its wheels easily. Zero to 30 mph (48 kph) is dealt with in just under 5 seconds.

Stability under riding is as good as on the other Wolfs as it has that same double stem and motorcycle-grade hydraulic front shock absorbers.

It also has some serious stopping power with 160 mm rotors and fully hydraulic brakes. From 15 mph (24 kph) to a complete standstill only takes 9 feet (3 m) if you know your braking technique.

Everything else is the same quality as the King. Thumb throttle perfectly mapped for smooth control of all that power as well as various riding modes and customization of controller settings and electric braking strength easily done while riding due to a brilliant cockpit design.

A full-color center display shows all the information you need. It is delivered on air-filled 11-inch self-repairing off-road or road tires depending on your preference. All the Wolfs are good for heavier riders as they all have a weight capacity of 330 lbs (150 kg). You pay slightly less than for the King but get performance very close to it.

  • Insane acceleration
  • Self-Reparing tires
  • IPX5 Water resistant

If you don't want to mess about and you take your e-scooter off roading seriously...then you will probably want to have a look at the Wolf Warrior.

It looks like off road e-scooter 2.0. The first thing that struck me upon seeing it, was the front motorcycle style inverted hydraulic shock absorber. It looks like it can handle some heavy duty riding and provide high performance on most surfaces. Power is tremendous from the dual 1200W motors that will reach a top speed of 50 mph (80 kph).

If you still have opted out of a full face helmet...maybe now is a good time to get one. This machine looks like it can and will rip up most of what is thrown at it.

11 inch tubeless knobby fat tires. That front hydraulic and rear spring suspension, front/rear hydraulic disc brakes with ABS, all there to make you feel secure in your equipment. It takes 1.9 seconds to reach 15 mph (24 kph) and 9.4 seconds to 40 mph (64 kph)!!...so if you like that buzz of acceleration... well then. It looks like you could take a sledgehammer to it and it would not break. Sturdy built frame but still looking cool in a way that scares other e-scooters off.

In eco single-engine mode, it will give a range of 70 miles (112 km). It is not the cheapest electric scooter out there but, you usually get what you pay for, and this is one of the fastest scooters out there now.

PROS

  • Great Suspension system
  • Off road & road tires available
  • Very long range

CONS

  • Not one you carry around

NAMI also offers an alternative to get a slightly less powerful yet still brilliant version of the top tier in the family.

The Burn E2 has the same phenomenal and raved-about ride quality as the E2 Max and the same 90-mile (145 km) range.

The top speed is 45 mph (72 kph) and there is plenty of power on offer from the dual motors of a continuous 1000W/5000W peak power.

Zero to 30 mph (48 kph) is reached in just over 4 seconds.

All these high-performance scooters are equipped with proper braking abilities and so it is with the E2. Fully hydraulic LOGAN 160 mm disc brakes, as well as an adjustable integrated electric brake, will stop you very effectively, only bettered by its bigger brother E2 Max with its four-piston calibers. This version has two.

Some call the NAMI the Ferrari of the scooter world and maybe rightly so. The build quality with a heat-treated welded tubular frame and adjustable suspension provides superb ride quality and handling.

Based on community feedback, NAMI has also integrated innovative technology such as a large waterproof smart display. Easy to operate and lets the rider adjust various settings according to preference. Acceleration strength can independently be adjusted on each motor to suit your preference.

There are 5 different ride modes which include that magic word turbo for extra power. Funny how a device connected to increasing power by exhaust gases now is a word used in the electric vehicle world symbolizing more oomph.

Weighing just under 100 lbs the E2 is slightly lighter than other similar beast scooters. Also good for heavier riders with a 330 lbs (150 kg) max weight.

PROS

  • Great sine wave controllers
  • Excellent both on & off road
  • Very long range

The Wolf Warrior 11 and its bigger brothers GT Pro and King GT Pro are considered some of the world's best scooters available on the market today.

So what is the Warrior X all about then? Well, the same quality package and that double stem but lighter and less bulky. And for some, if you are below 220 lbs (98 kg), this might be the best choice and the one that offers the biggest bang for your buck.

And it comes with a choice of two versions of battery. The standard "Street" model has a 60V 21Ah battery with a 40-mile (64 km) range and the "Pro" version with a 60V 28Ah with 52 miles (83 km) of range.

The Street is available with 10-inch air-filled street or off-road tires and the Pro comes with 10-inch air-filled street tires.

The top speed and motor configuration are the same with dual 1100W motors reaching just over 40 mph (69 kph).

It still weighs 79 lbs (36 kg) but that is 24 lbs (11 kg) lighter than its bigger sibling Warrior 11. It is also easier to fold and will fit into most car trunks.

Regen brake recharges the battery every time you brake and the front and rear fully hydraulic Zoom brakes are excellent. Front and rear Zoom hydraulic disc brakes give full control with minimum force. The adjustable regenerative electric braking recharges your battery every time you brake.

It is very strong uphill and will not be left behind by many other scooters.

PROS

  • Strong power to weight ratio
  • Great stability & comfort
  • Incredibly comfortable ride

Calming things down yet another step from the hyper scooter league, you will have options in the 30-40 mph (48-64 kph) segment. Still fast enough in our opinion to warrant a full-face helmet as well as other safety equipment. These are still very powerful electric scooters equipped with dual motors capable of incredible acceleration and top speeds.

A definite favourite amongst scooter enthusiasts. The fluid Mantis seems to tick a lot of boxes, which is something the competition has not yet refined to the same effect it would seem.

Looking at performance, speed, ride quality, and the asking price, it is a very good package. It comes in two versions, Base and Pro.

One difference is the battery capacity, 60V 18,2Ah/60V 24,5Ah respectively, which affects mile range but not the 40 mph (64 kph) top speed when using the turbo button. And that makes this a seriously fast electric scooter.

The other difference is dual fully hydraulic disc brakes for the Pro, whereas on the Base it's semi hydraulic. In both cases, the stopping power is brilliant.

They are both dual 1000W/3000W peak power engine versions and you can choose to use single or dual mode, depending on if you want to go at max speed or prefer a little longer range. 30+/ 45+ miles (48+ / 72+ km) range for the Base/Pro version in eco mode, is a very good distance and it will still do 30 mph (48 kph)!

It has a very good front and rear spring arm suspension and combined with air-filled 10-inch tires provides a very smooth ride and will allow for cruising on dirt or gravel trails in the forest, as well as the odd jump over curbs or other obstacles, even if it's not an outright off-road toy.

Solidly put together, with high quality, easy to use and ride makes the Mantis one of the best electric scooters for commuters as well as fun-seeking weekend adventurers.

PROS

  • Multiple gear modes
  • Very long range
  • Ride on any terrain

CONS

  • Handlebars does not fold

"mantis Scooter
This is a machine. If you get one of these make sure you get yourself protected. Riding one of these without a helmet or elbow and knee pads is like riding a Harley wearing flip flops. This is not only for the young adult. I am 69 years old and in good shape. I am using muscles I have not used so I get a little sore after a 10 mile run.
Well built. Fast. Hold on when you hit the turbo button.
When you are stuck in the house and the only option to move around is a car or walking, nice to jump on the scooter and let it take you where ever you want. Couple of things you have to do yourself. Get a mirror. Not knowing what is behind you is uncomfortable. Ear plugs, for the wind noise. Clear glasses for night time. All in all a great purchase."

If you're thinking "this one looks familiar" you're spot on. A case of déjà vu even. The INOKIM OXO shares remarkable similarities with the OX. Well, it is in fact, the big brother version of the two.

If you are familiar with the OX but are looking for something more in the speed and power department, then the OXO is your answer.

The OXO has double brushless 1000W motors and reaches a whopping top speed of 40 mph (64 kph). Just like its baby brother, the OXO is foldable, which is great for taking it on the train as part of the daily commuting routine.

Acceleration is very smooth, to say the least. Press the thumb throttle down and expect to yank away you will be surprised as it instead builds gradually up to speed. It will still do zero to 15 mph (24 kph) in just under 4 seconds.

The 60V 26Ah battery has a range of 52 miles (83 km) and it is a very able hillclimber. It has the same adjustable polymer front and rear suspension system as the Ox and is an excellent fast all-terrain scooter with 10-inch air-filled tires and that double-sided swingarm that makes tire changes that much easier.

Dual hydraulic ZOOM disc brakes are some of the best on the market and the brake feel is brilliant. Superb build and ride quality it weighs 77 lbs (35 kg) and has a max weight capacity of 265 lbs (120 kg).

PROS

  • Superior build & ride quality
  • Peak power performance
  • Advanced display

CONS

  • Heavy & not very portable

fantastic Scooter and service
"Very nicely designed and the ride is smooth and powerful. Handles great on and off road. Service from Fluidfreeride has been great too, shipping and response to my requests have been extremely fast. I'm now a loyal customer. Added a trailer hitch and it pulls the trailer effortlessly. Also mounted a GoPro, rear view mirror, and taillight with turn signal. Set it up to go 40 mph but it gets a little scary over 30, the red button (front motor switch) is like an afterburner. Completely worth the expense to have that front motor"

The Phantom is the result of feedback from thousands of users to create the best possible scooter in its price range. And Apollo scooters has done a marvellous job with all that info being put to use building a superb package with a great ride and build quality.

A top speed of 38 mph (61 kph) is impressive and it is fast from a standstill although not in a way that will snap your neck. Zero to 15 mph (24 kph) takes just under three seconds.

Dual 1200W/3200W peak power motors with 52V 23,4Ah battery are good for 40 miles (64 km) of range and tackling hills is not a problem.

The ride is one of the best you will experience on an e-scooter as everything gels so well together. The handlebar ergonomics, the excellent thumb throttle, a big deck with plenty of grip, and an adjustable quadruple spring suspension system with great shock absorption.

The Phantom will happily travel over dirt trails, grass, jump over curbs and soak up imperfections in the road. It also offers three configurations of braking systems. Standard mechanical brakes, or either ZOOM or NUTT fully hydraulic.

Big 160 mm rotors make sure that in either choice the stopping power is excellent. Stopping distances are basically the same between hydraulic and mechanical but the feel is different. The option is there to accommodate for personal preference of brake feel.

10-inch pneumatic tires and a max weight capacity of 300 lbs (136 kg) means bigger riders will have no problem enjoying the Phantom.

PROS

  • Cool & unique design
  • Excellent lighting package
  • Advanced display

CONS

  • No front turn signals

Apollo phantom is a swiss army knife!
"I came in to the shop looking for a ghost, then I was enticed by the wolf warrior x, but ultimately I decided on the phantom with no regrets so far.(about a month) I have fluid and Apollo as neighbors being a New Yorker! All there's is to do now is wait for V3... P.S. Chuck from Bk location is a Godsend!"

Kaabo offers a brilliant alternative for those who might deem the Mantis V2 a bit too big. The Mantis 8 pro has the same great build quality and packs an impressive punch with dual 800W motors, yet is a more compact package.

The top speed is 33 mph (53 kph) and the acceleration is almost scary. Be prepared as the 8 Pro flies from zero to 15 mph (24 kph) in under 2,5 seconds and the top speed is reached in just under 12 seconds. It flies up 10% inclines with ease. A 48V 24.5Ah battery pack gives 40 miles (64 km) of range.

This is a fun and easy-to-ride e-scooter with great abilities and jumping off curbs and going fast around corners is what the 8 pro is all about. It has one of the best dual spring suspension systems you can fit on an e-scooter as well as wide 8-inch (20,3 cm) air-filled tires.

Fully hydraulic dual ZOOM disc brakes and adjustable regen braking stop the onslaught very effectively. It weighs 60 lbs (27 kg) and has a weight limit of 265 lbs even though it is not as big as the Mantis V2. An excellent scooter for the more experienced rider looking for a lot of performance yet still nimble.

PROS

  • Excellent power to weight ratio
  • Great braking
  • Very nice suspension

CONS

  • Handle bars does not fold

Powerful Kaabo MANTIS 8 PRO
"Very powerful, fast and compact! Not too heavy for its power!I live in a hilly area surrounded with many steep roads, single motor version just doesn't make it. This one has no problem at all. Now I can ride out from home which I couldn't do before because I didn't like to push scooter uphill returning home. It's a little pricy but the best thing is the company support which is really good. The front wheel hydraulic brake didn't work out of the box but the company sent me a bleeding kit quickly and solved the problem.I really like this scooter, and it is the 4th one that I bought. I wish I had known better."

Here you have a proper commuter scooter that focuses on practicality and portability, has a brilliant foldable as well as collapsable stem, yet has a top speed of 31 mph (50 kph).

A single 1000W/1400W peak power rear-wheel drive motor impresses with acceleration from zero to 15 mph (24 kph) in 3,5 seconds. And it is good up 10% inclines as well.

It might not win any beauty awards but it was never meant to. This is a very clever and agile commuter scooter. It has a brilliant ride quality with dual spring suspension and 10-inch pneumatic tires. It is very stable at high speed and bumps and potholes are dealt with easily.

A 52V 18.2Ah Dynavolt battery offers an impressive range of up to 34 miles (54 km).

Dual mechanical disc brakes, as well as regen brakes, are very potent and it stops very effectively.

This is a scooter that will serve well, especially when used daily. It is not exactly lightweight at 52 lbs (23,5 kg) but also not a beast. It has a 265 lbs (120 kg) weight capacity and will be an option for bigger riders.

When you just want to ride comfortably, at a good speed, and are ok with a single motor, this is a perfect choice.

PROS

  • Great topspeed
  • Long range
  • Nice ride quality

CONS

  • Somewhat heavy for its class

At the "lower" end of the scale, we arrive at 20-30 mph scooters.

Considering most rental & share options such as lime electric scooters for example, will have a top speed of 15 mph (24 kph), 20 mph and above is still sufficient enough (or should be) for an inner city daily commuter. After all, most of the time in an urban busy environment, one will not be able to go full tilt for many seconds before having to lift off.

Weight Limit:  265 lbs / 120 kgDisplay:  Adv. thumb throttle display Battery Position: Under Board

Coming in just shy of the 30 mph barrier the INOKIM OX delivers a top speed of 28 mph (45 kph).

As with several other scooters on this list, it comes in two variants, the OX Hero and the OX Super. The top speed remains the same for both models. The only difference is the size of the battery, 60V 13Ah or 60V 21Ah taking the range from 22 to 33 miles (35 to 53 km) (Hero/Super).

It is a zero-start e-scooter so acceleration from a standstill up to 15 mph (24 kph) is not eyewatering but rather modest. Once up to 15 mph, it pulls stronger. This is on purpose since the Ox should be viewed as a very good commuter rather than a pocket rocket. This scooter is not only fast, but it also has a lot going for it. It comes with a single-sided adjustable swingarm suspension, making changing the air-filled 10-inch tires a breeze as you do not need to remove the wheel.

It also has adjustable suspension, which will come in handy if you plan on taking this scooter to its maximum speed. Drop the suspension to the low setting, and you get better stability when going fast!

The front drum brake and rear disc brake are brilliant. 15 mph (24 kph) to zero takes 11 feet, (3,4 m) Also not a tiny e-scooter with a 61 lbs (28 kg) weight but not super big either. Max rider weight is 265 lbs (120 kg). This is one of the best-designed high-quality electric scooters you can find. It even looks cool with the black and orange colour theme. A proper grand tourer of electric scooters

PROS

  • Fantastic Looks
  • Comfortable ride
  • Adjustable suspension

CONS

  • Kick start option only

"Reliable and steadfast
This is a great electric scooter. It is not trying to be the fastest in the market, but it is the most stead fast and consistent. The speed is quick, but does not feel dangerous. It has enough torque to get up steep hills with ease, even under the load of an adult and child. We get over 22 real miles Per charge."

Weight Limit: 220 lbsDisplay: Smart DisplayBattery Position: Under Board

One of the coolest-looking and most fun e-scooters on the market is the WideWheel. Now upgraded and even better in the Pro version.

Max speed is now raised to 26 mph (41,8 kph) and acceleration to match with dual 500W motors. The range is 30 miles (48 km) with conservative riding, and the battery pack is 48V 15Ah.

The Widewheel is a power package best suited for paved roads and smooth surfaces. The name says it all. The wheels are very wide and although they are solid, they are filled with foam and will flex when you press your thumb into them. This makes it feel a tiny bit like pneumatic tires, although you wouldn't go off-road on this one.

The wide tires make this scooter very stable when riding in a straight line. When cornering, it takes some practice to get it right though, as it does not turn in the same way a narrower tire scooter would. Pros and cons of a Widewheel.

This is a fast electric scooter and it has a sporty feeling to it, which is also noticeable from the dual disc brakes and dual front and rear springs which makes shock absorption, if not too big potholes, one less item to worry about. In the fastest speed setting, it will give a range of 19 miles (30 km).

Upgrades from the previous version include a reinforced fork and neck as well as a thicker stem, which is a good thing too as stem wobble is not something you want on a fast electric scooter. The WideWheel was always cool and fun, and even more so now.

With a 54 lbs (25 kg) weight, it is possible to lift without breaking too much sweat. 220 lbs (98 kg) weight capacity. If you have that craving for speed and want to look the part while enjoying it as well. This is the one

PROS

  • Unique Cruising Style Riding
  • Can Tackle Any Hills
  • Great Speed & Range

CONS

  • Folding Process Takes Somewhat Longer

"WW Pro
Really funny to drive. Good acceleration. Hit top speed even when driving steep uphill. Top speed on mine is 40 and downhill 45. But 40 feels enough because it accelerates quick to its top speed. Stiff suspension but I prefer stiff suspension so no problem for me rather more a positive thing. Brakes bites well. The accelerator button is little too sensitive so it is difficult to cruise around. Either full steam or nothing. It needs a much better accelerator button with more feel, now its maximum throttle when touching the button the slightest. Makes it difficult to drive when around people and crowded places. The springs from the suspension sounds a lot so don't buy this if you enjoy a silent drive."

If the Wolf King Gt pro is the king of the beast scooters then the Fluid Mosquito is the king of the pocket rockets.

Combining ultraportable features with great power and only weighing 29 lbs (13 kg) you would never think this small kick scooter could have a 25+ mph (40+ kph) top speed. Mainly designed for shorter rides the 48V 9,6Ah battery has a realistic range of 20+ miles (32 km) if not using full throttle all the time.

A single front wheel 500W/700W peak power motor is even strong uphill and will beat other similar scooters as well in acceleration. Zero to 15 mph (24 kph) takes around 5 seconds.

It even has a dual suspension system which is needed since the tires are solid. Braking is very good which is a must considering the top speed and having three options feels confident. Rear drum and rear step on brake as well as adjustable regen braking via the throttle which also recharges the battery when used.

This is a perfect scooter for either beginners or the commuter looking for durability, maximum portability, and good performance.

PROS

  • Ultra lightweight & portable
  • Excellent suspension for lightweight scooter
  • Very high top speed for it's size

CONS

  • Brake distance can be long if going top speed

Tiny Beast!
"Bought this for my daughter at college, but wanted to put some miles on it to make sure everything was ok. I have another brand scooter and this outclassed it in almost every way. Lighter, easier operation, more torque and top speed. The smaller solid wheels don’t feel as “bike-like” as larger inflated wheels, but the suspension on this made sidewalk paths tolerable that were too jarring with fixed wheels. Once you get used to both brakes, stopping power is amazing. There’s a lot going on here in a small package that can be easily carried up a few flights of stairs."

The award-winning Quick series just got upgraded, again! And this time, top speed took a big jump from 19 mph to 25 mph (30 km/h to 40 kph) finally bringing the Quick series into the realm of fast electric scooters.

In true INOKIM fashion, the Quick 4 is a clever combination of a single rear wheel 600W motor and a large 52V 16Ah Samsung battery that can reach up to 40 miles (64 km) of range on a single charge.

Acceleration is decent with zero to 15 mph (24 kph) being managed in just under 5 seconds. It comes with a dual damper suspension as well as large 10-inch air-filled tires. This will guarantee a comfortable ride if you should find yourself in a city centre with more potholes and cracks than a smooth surface.

It has a very wide board, which is a nicer feature than it might appear at first. Sometimes you have to compromise your stance due to not having enough space for the feet, so a bigger board is a big plus. This is a great fast scooter that will take you far on a full charge.

It is perfect for commuting and can handle light trails as well. If you are looking for a high-quality and sensible choice that can still knock out a respectable top speed, consider the Quick 4.

PROS

  • Clever rear carry handle
  • Wide board for comfortable stance
  • Excellent combination of speed & range

CONS

  • Kick start option only

Smooth-riding, peppy commuter
"Love this thing. It's fun, sophisticated and practical all at once. The range is great for getting around most cities (25 - 30 miles seems realistic based on my first ride). Acceleration is great and you can reach 25 mph pretty quickly. Suspension is fantastic and has turned what used to be a pretty jarring ride into smooth commute. The dashboard is the icing on the cake. It looks amazing and is really useful. Some other pros - 1) quick-release handlebars make collapsing this a breeze, 2) built-in back carrying handle, 3) automatic brake lights on *both* brake handles, and 4) built-in USB port for charing accessories."

Top Speed: 23-25 MphLights: 3 Front and 2 Rear LEDsDrive: Rear Wheel
Weight Limit: 265 lbsDisplay: Advanced display with throttleBattery Position: Under Board

Let's take a look at the fluid  Horizon. If you need a max speed of 25 mph (40 kph) and don't feel like a daredevil, but still looking for a reasonable riding experience at a reasonable price, then this is an option.

It comes with a choice of two different battery outputs for longer range options, and we would recommend the bigger 48V 13Ah battery. The smaller one is 48V 10,4Ah. The top speed is the same, but if you will go full tilt a lot of the time, you will want the bigger battery.

This scooter is actually one of the few e-scooters that delivers on the promised 25-mile range, (40 km) as tested under real-world circumstances. It looks and feels solid, and is built well enough to handle its max speed, which is important. It will not win any drag races though, as it is quite slow up to 8 mph (12,8 kph). So if you are all into that, then maybe this one is a bit too modest getting away from the red light.

It comes with an option of a three-mode speed setting to reign in the speed demon in you if needed. The braking system is a combination of a rear drum and regen brake that works fine and is a smooth and well-balanced option. Frankly, anything less than this on a high-speed electric scooter is a reason to opt out if you want to be able to stop properly.

Tires are important, especially at these speeds. Air-filled tires are to be preferred as the benefits outweigh the drawbacks of getting a flat. Here we have a combo of both as the front is air-filled whereas the rear tire is solid. That is one of the Horizons cons if you will, as you can feel the back end step out and skid off the centerline under braking, as well as stepping out when cornering if you are not careful. So be aware! But you will never have a rear flat and that is enough for some buyers.

A clever choice of a dual hydraulic suspension at the rear compensates for that solid tire and gives a very smooth ride on most surfaces. It weighs 42 lbs (19kg) and has a 265 lbs (120 kg) weight limit.

PROS

  • Long Range
  • Strong Power to weight ratio
  • Very Practical & Foldable

CONS

  • Board deck can be a bit limited for some people.

Better than expected
"I did alot of research and bought several different brands and returned all of them except fluid freeride, these scooters out performed my expectations. Faster and more stable than the others. So I bought two more, we now have 4 of these from fluid freeride!! Love the suspension also!! You you guys did good on these!!"

Weight Limit: 220 lbs / 100 kgDisplay: Adv. thumb throttle displayBattery Position: Under Board

The INOKIM Light 2 just clears our speed requirement for this top list at 21 mph (34 kph). If you are looking for the most portable and fastest scooter available, and the Mosquito is not for you, then maybe this one is.

It offers great portability and yet a respectable maximum speed. INOKIM are known for their unique design and great-looking scooters, and the Light 2 even comes in a range of different colours.

It's powered by a single rear wheel 350W/650W peak power motor that will deliver on the promised speed. However, keep in mind due to the smaller motor, if you're going uphill you'll likely drop a few mph in speed.

The board has a very low centre of gravity helping it keep very stable at speed and although it lacks suspension, two 8-inch air-filled tires help smooth out the ride. Dual drum brakes are a surprise on such a portable scooter but they are there, they are brilliant and probably the best you will find on such a scooter.

The potential lack of power is definitely an acceptable compromise as this really is a portable scooter, only weighing 30 lbs (13,6 kg).

To put it in perspective, other scooters in the same weight class would be the popular Xiaomi M365 and Segway Ninebot series, which both offer speeds around the 16 mph (25 kph) mark and are around 50 Watts weaker in their power output.

PROS

  • Custom design throttle
  • Comfortable and secure ride
  • Beautiful design & color options

CONS

  • Limited power & torque

"Really cool scooter
Have been riding my black Inokim light for over a week to work. About 4-5 miles each way. It has nice acceleration and it feels faster than I had expected. I am 6 feet and 180 pounds. I recharge every night but after around 10 miles I still have battery left.
Upgraded from my ninebot es2 and it feels so different. The ride is smooth and quiet, it folds down more compact and it looks so much cooler. I take it into the restaurant where I work and my coworkers are all jealous lol. Well worth the price!"
